We want to thank all of the people who followed our Windtalker-Siberians website over the years, checked out our puppies and our pack. We have retired our dogs and are no longer breeding or selling Siberian Husky puppies. We have discontinued the Windtalker's website but you can still follow us on our blog. If you are looking for a pup we do keep in touch with local breeders and can refer you to one of them. As always we appreciate your interest in our Windtalker's Siberians.

February 2010 Updates!

Need a good home! Recently we took in two Siberian Huskies, age 3. These dogs were sired by Yukon's Son, Demon.
Their owner enlisted in the Armed Forces and has left for basic training. He couldn't take his dogs with him. They are beautiful AKC registered huskies. Their names are Sonic and Misty.
Misty is a pure white female (spayed.) Sonic is a black and white (neutered) male.
The two have been together since the day they were born and are bonded. We are looking for a good home who can take them both and give them the love and attention that they deserve.

They are currently at my Son's house in Sandpoint, ID. He keeps promising me to send me pictures. As soon as he does I will upload them to the blog.

If you are looking for loving pets with good solid bloodlines these would be excellent dogs for you. If interested please email me at windtalkers@verizon.net.

Latest news Flash!!!!! It is still too soon to tell but we are hoping for a spring litter of pups. Keela and Yukon are the (hopefully) sire and dam. The pups would be born mid March and be ready to go in May. You can check back for updates on the pup prognosis in a couple of weeks.

Aleutia and Yukon were busy snuggling and keeping plenty warm during the harsh, cold winter months. I should have been so lucky, lol. Hmmmm..... it seems they were doing more than just snuggling, that sly old dog! On 5/2/2009 Aleutia had 3 bouncing baby boys. Now you tell me Yukon wasn't full of testosterone?

Zoi's Tensaw and the girls

I received an email from Cobey Williamson, who purchased a pup from Zoi's litter. Tensaw lives in Montana with Cobey and two gorgeous black and white female huskies that Cobey got from a husky rescue. Cobey's girlfriend, Brandi, made this video of his pack and she did a wonderful job! It is a must see if you want to see the beauty and grace of this breed. Yukon's been a busy boy!

Priest Lake Dog Sled Races

Who says Huskies do not like cats?

Since Chloe had never seen a cat she was a bit "too" interested in them for the cats liking. It took a couple of weeks before she settled down around them and didn't want to chase them. Now Jinx is Chloe's buddy. Here's a Kodak moment for ya.

It's been a crazy summer!

It's sure been a busy and crazy summer! Aleutia had her litter of puppies. All are gone now. I traded one of the pups to Jen who has little Diesel and got one of Diesel's and Sassy's pups. Chloe has more energy than she knows what to do with and loves going for rides. She knows that usually means a trip through Mc Donalds and she gets doggie patties.

Yukon has been a busy (and happy) boy. He was studded out and had two additional girlfriends, (Wanda and Molly,) during July. Well having the two other females visiting while in heat brought Keela in to heat early. Yukon loves Keela and he was happy about that but I had other ideas. I didn't want Keela to have another litter until Spring so I brought her inside the house. Yukon cried and carried and you would have thought he was dying. I figured he would have gotten worn out from the other two girls, but not so. That big ol' horn dog.

Everything has pretty much settled back down around here. It is now raining on and off and fall is starting to settle in. Chloe spent one day (and night) outside with the big dogs. She had fun playing with Aleutia and romping around in the doggie wading pool, but once it started raining she decided being outside was not fun any more. I brought her back in and dried her off, and built her a fire to warm up and dry off by. She bailed into bed with me and wanted to snuggle and stay close. She isn't whining to get back out there with the big dawgs any more. I guess she had her fill for awhile.

That's about all that's new here in the North Country. I will report back when I have more husky news. I hope everyone enjoyed their summers.

Well, the long awaited moment arrived and Aleutia had her pups last night. The first one, (which we lost,) arrived at 11:30 PM on the 23rd, all of the rest were born on 6/24. The last one was born this morning at 8:30, so as you can imagine, it was a long night for mama dog and me!

Here is a picture of the pups less than 12 hours old. The pups are eating and doing well.

We are so happy to be adding this little cutie to our Windtalker's pack. She is the Daugher of Little Diesel, who of course is all grown up now. Diesel's main squeeze is Sassy (Sister of Zoi.) I am so thrilled to be able to continue both Diesel's and Sassy's bloodlines.

Her name is Chloe. Look at those big beautiful baby blues. She is absolutely gorgeous and a little sweetie. She will be coming home after Aleutia has her pups and they get a bit older. I don't want to take any chances on Aleutia hurting her. The mama doggies are so protective of their youngsters until the pups eyes are open.

I will post more pics of her once she arrives.

And...... we are still waiting for Aleutia to have those babies. I am hoping any day now. I will post pics of them too as soon as they are born.

Warning! Cocoa Bean Shell Mulch Toxic to Dogs

COCOA BEAN SHELL MULCH IS TOXIC TO DOGS

The A.S.P.C.A. has determined that dogs consuming cocoa bean shell mulch are exhibiting signs similar to those seen with chocolate intoxication. These signs include increased heart rate, trembling, vomiting, panting, and muscle tremors. The A.S.P.C.A. recommends that fertilizers and mulch be checked for cocoa been ingredients and that these products not be placed with dogs. Cocoa been shells are a by-product of chocolate production and are commonly sold to landscapers and homeowners. If a dog ingests this product, contact a veterinarian or the A.S.P.C.A. Animal Poison Control Center at (888-426-4435).

True information about the mulch can be found here - ASPCA This site gives the following information: Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine". It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution ---check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens. Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate ,especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

How time flies!

Where does time go? Although the winter was a long and nasty one, it seems it was just December...... with bouncing husky puppies, puppy squeals, little bundles of joy! How I love the babies and hate to see them go, but I have learned the hard way that I can NOT keep all of them. I sure would if I could though.

I have been lucky enough to have a lot of the puppy buyers stay in touch with me and they send me pictures of their puppies (all grown up,) from time to time. I have included these pictures on the web photo gallery for anyone who would like to see them.

I do believe that Yukon and Aleutia have been busy in the "hen house" which would mean June puppies! Oh boy!!!!!!! I should know in about 3 more weeks as Aleutia would start getting thick around her middle. For more puppy information please email me at windtalkersibes@aol.com

What else is new.....

To stay sane during the months that I was snowed in I was busy making handcrafted items for my two Etsy stores. I also have been baking "Peanut Butter Puppy Popper" doggie treats and sales have been good, as you can imagine. We know how these huskies just LOVE their toys and their treats....

I also made felt toys for the pups, but found the big dogs love them too. The felt bone is industrial strength felt (so it is durable.) I added a rope that the dogs just love to knaw on.... you know how they love to chew on stuff.

I believe and support animal charities and causes so I am donating a portion or all of the money that I make from the sale of these items to different charities. The charity the money goes to is listed in the item's description.

Spring is almost here!

It was a hard winter here in no Idaho. Snow, snow and more snow. Our annual Priest Lake dog sled races were cancelled this year. The reason given was "TOO MUCH SNOW!" I was going to drive out and get some pictures but the weather was too foul for the trek. I had hoped the race would get rescheduled, but it snowed pretty much all of January and February without any let up. Too much snow was an understatment!

But March has finally arrived. It has only snowed 3 times so far this month, the last time being a week ago and it was a light dusting.... just a reminder that winter still isn't over, and the groundhog needs to be retired! Early spring? My A@#!!!!!!

But, it is warming up and spring is almost here. Yukon and Aleutia spent the past month snuggling up in the husky hotel (love shack,) and soon spring puppies will be here. I can finally see ground that I haven't seen since December. The moose is no longer camped out in my back yard. The last picture of our vistor showed why "she" decided to head in to town seeking food and shelter. She was eating for two.

Snow, snow and more snow!

Life has sure been hectic and full these past few months. With two litters and a total of 12 puppies, it keeps you busy and on your toes. Zoi had 9.... yes NINE puppies! Keela had 3. At 1 month of age Keela's were twice the size of Zoi's, and hers were 1 week older. I guess not having to fight for milk does have its advantages.

It has been snowing here for a couple of months now, and mostly non-stop. They say it is the worst winter in 40 years and I do believe that. My greenhouse roof caved in after the first month of snow. I paid to get a tow truck to get me out of my driveway this past week. I have given up on trying to shovel the driveway and the deck. I doubt I will see ground until June!

I tuned in to the news this morning to see if the groundhog saw it's shadow. You know I am praying for an early spring. I didn't know there were TWO groundhogs. One saw it's shadow, the other didn't, but according to the General, we will have an early spring. The other groundhog was hibernating so they woke him up to get him to come out of his log. They said they are going to retire him, which is good. Poor old guy should have just been left alone. But there is hope. They say put your money on the general as he has been 98% right-on in the past. I sure hope this big guy is right this year. I am so looking forward to spring, warmth, sun!

The Priest Lake dog sled races are this weekend, but the weather is so foul I didn't head out there today. If the snow lets up I will head out tomorrow and get some pictures of the dogs and the sleds.

Thank goodness for puppies, the crafting and jewelry making. If I didn't have them to keep me busy during these months that I have been snowed in I would surely have gone bonkers by now. Priest Lake Dog Sled Races

First, Happy New Year to everyone. It has been awhile since I have posted, and I do apologize. Life has been very busy and hectic, but I am hoping that now that the holidays are over, life will slow down a bit.

We have puppies! 2 weeks old now. I will be posting pictures as soon as they are getting around a bit better and their eyes are opened, so check back for puppy updates. Most are black and white, and pure white. I only have 1 gray and white one this time, which is unusual.

The Priest Lake annual dog sled races are coming up. They are the first weekend in February. The fun race (eliminations or trial races) are the weekend before. Here is a link with the dates and times of the races.

I will soon have some husky lampwork glass work suncatchers available. The glass artist is working on the husky design as I type. She sent me her first creation. Are Microchips really safe for your pet?

Today I read an Associated Press article stating studies dating back to the 1990's showed that microchip implants cause malignant tumors, in animals and lab rats, but neither the company nor the regulators publicly mentioned this.

The article states: Although the government approved the use of microchips in humans in 2005, the Associated Press reports that studies dating back to the mid-1990s showed they "induced" malignant tumors in some lab mice and rats. But neither the company nor the regulators publicly mentioned this. The transponders were the cause of the tumors," said Keith Johnson, a retired toxicologic pathologist, explaining in a phone interview the findings of a 1996 study he led at the Dow Chemical Co. In Midland, Mich. Leading cancer specialists reviewed the research for The Associated Press and, while cautioning that animal test results do not necessarily apply to humans, said the findings troubled them. Some said they would not allow family members to receive implants, and all urged further research before the glass-encased transponders are widely implanted in people.

The article goes on to state that to date, about 2,000 of the so-called radio frequency identification, or RFID, devices have been implanted in humans and thousands more implanted in pets and animals. The FDA declined repeated AP requests to specify what studies it reviewed.The FDA is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services, which, at the time of VeriChip's approval, was headed by Tommy Thompson. Two weeks after the device's approval took effect on Jan. 10, 2005, Thompson left his Cabinet post, and within five months was a board member of VeriChip Corp. and Applied Digital Solutions. He was compensated in cash and stock options.Thompson, until recently a candidate for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, says he had no personal relationship with the company as the VeriChip was being evaluated, nor did he play any role in FDA's approval process of the RFID tag."I didn't even know VeriChip before I stepped down from the Department of Health and Human Services," he said in a telephone interview.

Also making no mention of the findings on animal tumors was a June report by the ethics committee of the American Medical Association, which touted the benefits of implantable RFID devices.Had committee members reviewed the literature on cancer in chipped animals? No, said Dr. Steven Stack, an AMA board member with knowledge of the committee's review.

I know hundreds of breeders have microchips implanted in their AKC animals. I have never had microchips put in any of my dogs. Quite frankly I just couldn't subject my dogs to it and made that decision after I saw a puppy receive an implant. Everyone has their own opinion and I am sure this is a subject that will bring upon heated debates as to the the pros and cons. To me, first and foremost is the dogs safety, health and well-being. That goes without saying. I have to wonder why the implants were approved or continued to receive FDA and AMA approval even after the finding of the malignant tumors. Kind of scary don't you think?

FDA Pet Food Recall Update!

The FDA continues its investigation to ensure that all of the contaminated wheat gluten has been identified and contained. While the FDA further investigates how melamine was introduced into a historically safe and good food ingredient, it is suspected that the melamine contamination may have been caused by tampering.

80% of the U.S. demand for wheat gluten is fulfilled from Europe and Asia due to limited supplies in the U.S., where the remaining 20% is sourced. If the contamination was intentional (and slipped through the cracks at FDA,) what other food products might have also gotten by the FDA inspectors? This is some pretty scary stuff people. Think about it.

By now most have heard that pets are dying from pet food contaminates from Chinese shipments to the US that were sold to pet food manufacturers. FDA laboratories have found a substance called melamine in samples of pet food and in the wheat gluten used as an ingredient in the pet food.

Melamine is a small, nitrogen-containing molecule that has a number of industrial uses, including as an industrial binding agent, flame retardant and as part of a polymer in the manufacture of cooking utensils and plates. Melamine has additionally been used as a fertilizer in some parts of the world. It is not registered for use as a fertilizer in the United States.

As I went through the list I (and to my horror,) I found my dog food brands were listed. Chicken Soup puppy food is on that list as is Diamond Lamb and Rice Formula. I know that several of those that have purchased pups from me feed their Huskies this food, so please,
if your dog shows symptoms of illness, take it to your vet and have it tested for Melamine poisoning. Your pets life may depend on it.

Puppies are growing fast!

All of the pups are getting big, and both litters eyes are now open. All of Keela's pups have two blue eyes at one month old, but of course they can still change. It is too soon to tell on Zoi's babies as their eyes have just opened and the pups are just barely two weeks old. Keela's pups are romping around and playing, growling, barking, and being "puppies." Now that Zoi's pups eyes are open they will be romping around here soon too. Keela's pups are now eating puppy (solid) foods. It will still be awhile before Zoi's pups have teeth to eat solid foods with.

Zoi had had her puppies on April 9th, 2007. Her pups (total of 5) were the same colors and identical sexes as Keela's pups, which was very amazing. 2 blk/wht females, 2 gry/wht, 1 male, 1 female, and 1 pure white male.

Mother and babies are doing fine. This was Zoi's first litter and she needed help delivering the first pup, but after that she did excellently and instinctively knew what to do. She was a real trooper. The picture is taken when pups were 1 day old.

Keela finally had her puppies on Tuesday, 3/27/07. She had a total of 5, (2) blk/wht (females,) (2) gry/wht (1 male/1 female,) and (1) pure white (male.) Here is a picture of the pups at 1 day old. Priest Lake Dog Sled Races

I have been trying to post a couple of pictures that we took when we went to the Dog Sled Fun races at Priest Lake. I was going to go back to the actual race the following weekend, but the weather was so foul I decided to stay inside and build a warm fire. Ok, so I am a wimp, but don't forget.... I moved from California. I am not used to all of this sub-zero temperature stuff. And the snow? Who would have guessed there would be snow on the ground from Thanksgiving until now? Yes, it is still there, but finally melting because it has stopped snowing so the rains could move in. Ok so what did I expect when I moved to Idaho? Ask my Son. He told me that it didn't really get that cold here. Yeah, right. Wait til I catch up to that kid! On the up side, people here are saying that the winters get severe about once every 10 years, and this was one of them. I am thinking this is a good thing.

Now on to the Dog Sled races. We arrived at the races just before noon and several teams had already left. We actually went to watch the skijoring which was to start at 1:00, but only one person showed up for it. I guess we know who won that race.

There were mushers of all levels from beginning to very experienced. I put my money on the man in the photo. This team of dogs ran like there was no tomorrow. I swear I could see smoke coming from that sled, melting the snow beneath it and blazing the trail. Ok, so maybe not quit that fast, well? Yeah, they were..... they were really fast! I am not sure what I was expecting. My guess is there were 20 teams or so who showed up for the fun race. One gal summed it up. If there was no money in it most would rather stay home and prepare for the "real" race the following weekend. The dogs don't tear up their feet and wear themselfs out that way either. Makes perfect sense to me.

Not all of the dogs were Siberian Huskies. As a matter of fact, most weren't. Some mushers had a mix of huskies and other breeds. Two teams had Malamutes and huskies. It really didn't matter because all of the dogs were awesome and let me tell you, what athletes. The race lasted two weekends. Eliminations were on Saturday and the final race and winner was announced on Sunday.

This was the first sled race I ever attended and I plan on going back again next year. It is a annual National event and I have to tell you, it is really something to see. If you are a husky lover this is one of those once in a lifetime things you just have to go watch. I have the link to the NDSRA (National Dog Sled Racing Assn.) on my website. It lists all of the upcoming dog sled race dates.

I am posting a couple of pictures that I took on the race course, and a couple of the teams back at their trucks, resting. This will give you an idea what a mushing team's life is like on the actual day of the races.

First I want to say that we were blessed with 5 tiny fur babies. They were born 11/28. All are beautiful, healthy, happy babies. Both Mother and Dad are proud as can be. I talked to Jennifer yesterday and Diesel's pups are a month old now. She sent me pics of them so I can post them on here. They will be ready to go in a couple of weeks and she will be advertising in the Nickel's Worth, both No. Idaho and Spokane, Wa. area papers. She is currently taking deposits. Sassy had a total of 7 pups, 2 blk/wht, 3 white, 2 gry/wht. If interested please send an email for more information.

Also, Yukon has been a busy boy as usual. We are expecting a litter of pups in about 10 days. We have a waiting list of people who missed out on the last litters. I promised I would post a news flash when more pups were due. We are also taking deposits. Yukons pups will be ready to go early to mid January. We expect to have mostly blk/wht pups with a possible white or light red one.

It seems like just yesterday that little Diesel was a pup himself but as you can see he is all grown up. He is now living in Hauser with his sweetheart, Sassy, and Jennifer tells me that Diesel and Sassy will have puppies soon. They should be born in October and ready to go to their new homes by Christmas....... ooooooh Christmas puppies! I would love to wake up to one in my Christmas stocking. There is just something about puppy breath and puppy squeals.

Yes, I did say moose. Jennifer says they have a lot of them come into the yard this time of year.
Diesel was playing tug of war with one in the wee hours of the morning. He still thinks he is a pup and will play with anyone willing. I hear the moose was NOT so willing, but it didn't seem to bother Diesel. He continued to play tug of war with him anyway. I am banking the moose won at tug-o-war, but Jennifer never said.

Little Diesel is the proud Stud about the house and Jennifer reports that she believes he will be a "Daddy" soon. For all of you who were interested in getting one of his pups, if all goes well, new pups will be born in just over 2 months. Jennifer will be sending some pictures of Diesel strutting his stuff and his flame. I am so excited to hear this news!!!!! Also, Diesel now knows what moose are as Jen tells me that moose wander into her yard on a regular basis.

Sunny (the little red girl I had planned on keeping) went to her new home in CDA yesterday with the Joiner's. T.J., both pics turned out as double exposures, so I need to retake photo's for the website so you and your pup can be posted. Hopefully when you come back out you can bring her along for a new photo shoot?

Almost all of the puppies have gone to their new homes and hopefully everyone is settling in with their newest family member. By now you should have gotten your pup vet checked, gotten its puppy vacinations and worming. It is important to start the puppy shots and have the first worming by 8 weeks to ensure the health an wellbeing of your puppy.

Well, today was a sad, but happy day at Windtalker's. Diesel set off on a new adventure. He went to his new home with Judyth and Jennifer. There he is the "Top Dawg," well second to Sassy his new girlfriend, who keeps him in line. I checked in on him this evening and he and his new flame were romping around the yard and jumping in and out of their puppy pool. Sounds like puppy love to me. With Diesel went two of our puppies from the last litter, so Diesel will have his own husky pack. He no longer has to fight with Dad, who always let him know who was "king of the hill." I am happy for Diesel...... but still sad to see a loved one leave our pack. Diesel is giving Jennifer big puppy kisses.

Siberian Husky Health

I want to post some information so that you may spare yourself the grief that my family went through with one of our beloved Siberian Huskies. When we first got Pandi Beari, although she was timid, she was robust and healthy. She always had a good appetite up to the very end so we really didn't realize how sick she was until it was too late.

One day Pandi got a rash around her mouth and it did not heal. I took her to the vet who prescribed topical ointment and antibiotics and it seemed to clear up the rash for a bit but it came right back. The Vet was in awe. I started researching the web and found a lot of good and useful information available. The best site that I found was: http://www.huskyhealthfoundation.org/

After reading I concluded that she most likely had a zinc deficiency. Huskies are not able to store zinc in their systems like other dogs do. They need zinc either supplemmented in their food or with a vitamin/mineral supplement. The zinc deficiency, if left untreated, will lead to a multitude of other ailments and illnesses. Pandi got diabetes and as a result started to go blind. Mind you, this did not all happen over a course of months. This happened in just a matter of weeks. I watched a once healthy dog go down, losing 20 lbs. in a matter of two weeks. The blood tests did not show the zinc deficiency. A special blood test is needed for that and if you don't know what to look for the test is not normally done.

In Pandi's instance it was irreversible and too severe to save her. We had to make a very hard decision and have her put down, but it was the only humane thing to do. She could barely stand up any more and she had all but lost the sight in both eyes.

We had two other dogs that started to have seizures and both were pups (under a year.) At first we thought it was epileptic seizures, but then Krystal started getting the same rashes around her mouth (and ears) as Pandi did. As we read more on the zinc deficiencies one of the secondary ailments/condtions listed was seizures. We changed our dogs food to a Lamb & Rice formula (high in vitamins, minerals and zinc.) We started to give them daily supplements of Pet Tabs Plus (with minerals.) The rash cleared up (although it took almost a month,) and the seizures stopped.

I printed off the information sheet (from the huskyhealthfoundation.org website) and took it into my vet so if he was ever faced with another husky or dog with these symptoms he would include a blood test for zinc deficiencies. I am sorry that I did not learn this in time to save Pandi, but we learned in time to save our other two girls. If you own a husky it is very smart to educate yourself on the Husky Breed specific ailments. Also educate yourself on Husky temperaments and characteristics. Huskies can prove to be a challenge, but I am a firm believer that once you own a husky you will never own anything else. I know I won't.

It's Idaho or BUST

Why would anyone ever want to leave sunny California? Could it possibly be because in 4 months we have had 78" of rainful, only a handful of days where the sun came out, rising costs of energy bills, over inflated real estate prices, and generally over all high costs of day to day living? Since the "kid and his wife" moved to Idaho last summer, he has been hounding me to move north. "You'll LOVE IT" he says..... it is the most beautiful place I've ever seen, and the kid has seen a few places, so I trust his judgement that it will be all he says it is. Rivers, lakes, streams, waterfalls, mountains and an abundance of huskies. Sounds like a little piece of heaven to me! "But it's cold there," everyone warns me. Yes, I suppose it is usually a bit colder than "sunny California," but how come it is 10 degrees warmer than it is here now? They don't have rain in the forecast for the next 15 days (and possibly longer.) To tell you the truth? At the moment snow would be a welcome change to sludge, mud, rain, rockslides, flooding. Now, I tell you the huskies will surely be in husky heaven. Huskies and snow just go hand in hand.

You have to keep in mind that I am not a native Californian. I was born in Wisconsin so I know what snow and cold are all about. I lived in Mt. Baldy in So. California (and loved it there.) I have to be near family. I do miss my Son and his wife. My Son made me a Grandmother in March 06. I want to be around to see my Grandson grow and do all of the silly things that kids do, so it is Idaho or bust!

Now I have to tell you, as I was checking out my moving options, Uhaul versus Help U move and moving companies. To my surprise I got the lowest quote from a full service moving company. Now I never dreamt that in a million years. When I checked with our local Uhaul Agency, Chuck asked me where I was going. I told him Priest River, Idaho. He asked if it was anywhere near C0eur D' Alene???? I said, "yep." He said, "I rented two trucks this past week and both were headed to Coeur D' Alene." Imagine that. When I told my Son that he said, "now you know why Idaho'ans do not like Californians..... hmmmmmmm, I bet. Small wonder. I am not the only one pulling up the stakes and headed for higher ground.

I won't get a chance to give you updates until after I am settled. With two escrows going and packing I don't have much time to myself. May 1st is the estimated move date and it is a 15 hour drive. 4 huskies and me in an SUV, 15 hours of driving? Yee doggies! I will have to share that experience as well as life in Idaho.

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmth and the beauty of spring that I am not experiencing here in No. Ca. I envy you!!!!!

Eight Below Movie Review

Today I went to the afternoon matinee and saw Eight Below. If you liked Snow Dogs, you will love Eight Below. Snow Dogs was an adventure/comedy movie. Eight Below is based upon a true story of a fight for survival for team of huskies left behind to fend for themselves in the brutal elements of the Antartic. You will see familiar Husky faces, as some of the Snow Dogs were also stars in Eight Below, but their names are different.

The movie has it sad moments, and of course I cried during those. You see first hand the immense loyalty and love the dogs display, for both their human caretakers, and the others of their pack.

This movie is a must see for anyone who loves huskies, or dogs, for that matter. It is a Disney movie so it is great for the entire family.

I can attest that the behavior of these dogs display on screen is very much how the Huskies act when you have a pack of them. If one dog is sick the dogs all tend to it. If one doesn't eat, none will eat. Huskies have a very strong bond and it is like none I have ever seen in a dog.

I came home and hugged each and every one of my huskies after I left the theatre. The movie reaffirmed why I love them as I do. Huskies are magnificent and wonderful animals.... almost human at times.

As I said, if you like huskies you have gotta see the movie.

Well, first let me say that I am new to this blogging stuff. I added a "blog" to my website, but it is pretty limited. I do not have the ability to upload pictures of the huskies to it..... so?
